 Review: Real Madrid Training Top

By the MM Sports Ambassador Sean Moran

The Real Madrid Training Jersey seems to be the best for last, again with its classic fit and sleek design. With its navy color and white light blue trimming works well and gives the jersey that classic feel. The training jersey has the Adidas climacool like the Jerseys. Loose fitting breathable material, players wearing the jersey will be comfortable during hard practices and yet stay cool due to the breathability of the fabric.  The team crest is centered just below the Adidas logo.  The reinforced stitching will withstand the stress of practices, while not being bulking and annoying.

The back of the training top shows a printing of Real Madrid, with light blue trimming on the shoulders with a white design.  The design is made to let your body breath as well as keep you looking stylish.

The Real Madrid training top is perfect for any Real Madrid fan because of its style and comfortable.  The top is simplistic and yet classy way to promote your team while you train, work, hangout, or watch a Real Madrid game.  Fans would buy this because it is cost effective and not as in your face as some of the jerseys teams put out these days.

Review: Chelsea away jersey 11-12 – personalized

By MM Sports Chelsea FC ambassador Ray Pottenger

Chelsea Away Jersey: Bold Like a Drogba Kick To Your Face

Tired of your plain, one color away jersey? Tired of the same old same old design year in and year out? Are you bold? Well the new 2011-12 Chelsea away kit is for you.

Chelsea away jersey 11-12

I’ll be honest, when I say that I first saw these jerseys online, I was a little reticent about reviewing it, because it appeared a bit gaudy in the pictures I saw on the official Chelsea site.   However, the way it looks in pictures does not do it justice.  The moment it came out of the box I was impressed with how eye catching it was in a good way.

Let’s start with the parts of the jersey that are the same. Made from the same Climacool fabric as the home Jersey, it has a base fabric color of black..  As per usual and contractual obligation, the Samsung logo is emblazoned across the chest of the jersey. The striped adidas racing stripes adorn the sleeves.  All of these things are well and good, but they are not what makes this jersey pop, and pop it does.

Deviating a bit from the Chelsea royal blue, this jersey has a range of blues checkering the chest staring from a bright aqua to the shoulders that eventually fades to back around the Samsung Logo.  The now you see it now you don’t effect is a visual reminder to your opponents of what you’re going to do when you cross them up. Aqua and white bands circle the v-neck collar and an aqua ring surrounds the openings to both sleeves.

A really nice and simple touch I found was that the Chelsea emblem patch is in silhouette.   I almost like it better than the traditional colored patch.

As always the  people at MMSports have done a fantastic job of lettering and numbering using the official letters of the premier league. I got a Drogba #11. A powerful player for a powerful  jersey.

This is a fantastic jersey that is sure to turn some heads and get attention for all the right reasons.  I can say with full confidence you should go get this kit… if you’re bold enough.

Review: Liverpool away shorts &socks

Review: Liverpool away short & socks 11-12 + LFC womens tee

By MM Sports Liverpool FC ambassador Debra Capp

Here’s my story.

Lachie and Oscar are my sons (11 years and 10 years respectively). Football, or soccer as we refer to it in Australia, is their passion. Both boys are skilful players of the game at community club level. As well, they are avid fans of Liverpool FC, FC Barcelona and our local A League team, Melbourne Victory.

As you know, I’m a mum. Apart from my children, my interests are gardening, yoga, music and reading. I know very little about the game of soccer although I am learning. In this regard I’m rather a slow learner but it can’t be said that I don’t try. I have managed the boys’ community team for the past two seasons and recently began managing their futsal team. Also, I am entering my third season of accompanying them to A League matches and I can recognize some of the players. However what I am most interested in, as I watch the play, is the design and colour of the player’s kit. I love beautiful fabric and well cut clothes, especially on toned athletic bodies.

The latest Liverpool away gear is quite stunning. The colour scheme of solid grey and silver with red trim is very flattering. This is Lachie with his latest “look”. He is wearing the Liverpool away jersey, shorts and socks with along with his new Adidas trainers.

Here is a short video of Lachie and Oscar in action.

And I’m still trying to keep up with both my boys. So here I am in my Liverpool tee.

Spain EURO 2012 jersey

Spain national team jersey for the EURO 2012

By MM Sports

The new Spain jersey for the EURO 2012 in Poland and the Ukraine was launched on the 10th November 2011.

The jersey sports the familiar red and yellow colors.

The goal keeper uniform is yellow with black.

Spain EURO 2012 jersey

The full uniform consists of the following parts:

red and yellow jersey.

blue and yellow shorts

red and yellow socks.

Intereting enough to see that all players chosen to present the jersey are adidas players in the sense that they have personal endorsement deals with adidas in order to wear their footwear.

Iker Casillas is sponsored by Reebok though but since Reebok is owned by adidas it is not a problem )

 Arsenal Training Shirt Review

2011/2012 Season

Robert Glavind, CANADA

If you caught any of the Gunner’s early season games this year in the Premier League, you may have noticed the substitutes and team members on the bench seated behind Arsene Wenger and the coaching staff wearing some very cool looking t-shirts. The shirts are red and carry the standard brand and sponsor logos of the regular jerseys.

I was excited to receive this shirt to review as it has a very clean modern look.

Arsenal training top pre-match top 2011-12

This training shirt follows the colours of the home and away kit. The one I received is the home kit version in red with white and black trim. The red body, with elasticized white cuffs and collar includes a thin black line which matches to the black and white stripe across the front top of the chest.  Directly below the stripe is the standard ‘Fly Emirates’ logo in white screened script. This kind of gives it a semi-jersey look.

Although the logos and design are all screened, Nike as the manufacturer of this shirt has done a fantastic job in adding a little style element to the traditional Arsenal colors.  I think these shirts are really sharp looking and have already received numerous complements and inquiries.

The material is Nike’s tech performance, Dri-Fit line of cloth which is exceptionally light and provides excellent wicking plus breathability for running and working out in.

Different from the 2011 / 2012 jersey, this shirt carries the actual official Arsenal logo crest, which works very well with the overall modern design behind the shirt.

On the back of the shirt, screened in white below the collar is a 3d block icon form and across the shoulder blades in large block letters is the club name: ARSENAL

This shirt will make a great option for the fan who may be looking for a less expensive alternative to the official team jersey, as well as provide an uber kool style shirt for the fan looking for everyday performance casual wear.

C’mon ARSENAL!!!

 REVIEW: MANCHESTER UNITED TRAINING TOP

By Man Utd ambassador Bulent Bahadir

As you are reading this review, you are probably supporting a team, a football team. You follow your team, with every matches they play, with every club and transfer news, and one another thing supporters wait with great enthusiasm is clubs new merchandises. Here we have the Manchester United’s training shirt. A true fan has already noticed the training gears and I will try to review this great training top for you.

Manchester Untied training top 1

Main colour of the training top is old royal blue with randomly placed white accents. This gives a quite modern and unique look to the training top. As usual Man United club crest is at the left of the chest while Nike Swoosh is at the right. The fabric of the top is Nike Dri-Fit as football shirts are too.

Manchester United training top 2

Plastic printed Manchester United Crest

The training top came from MMsports is like a player issue one. There are some differences from the regular-commercial ones. First the club badge is not embroidered, plastic printed same as the match shirts that footballers wear at matches. That gives more comfort to the person who wears the top. There would be no tiggling or any other extra feeling that the back of the badge could give.

Manchester United training top blue 3

Air ventilation holes under the arms

There are plastic patches at the shoulders and back of the shirt. We can see these plastic patches at player issue shirts too (authentic jerseys). The last and most important difference from the regular training top is air ventilation holes below the arm pit. I haven’t seen any commercial top and shirt sold at shops with air ventilation holes. Only player issue items have them.

Embroidered crest and no ventilation holes

Note: I was in London two weeks ago. I also visited the MU Megastore at Old Trafford. These sneaky pics were taken at Megastore and some other football shops. You can see the differences I told before by looking at the pics. Thanksfully MMSports have the player issue version of this training top.

With the player issue details this training top looks absolutely stunning. You feel yourself like a pro while wearing it. It is great for personal excercise, football matches with friends or even for a casual top. This sponsorless shirt can match every occasion. Support your team with this training top, it is up to you where to wear it.

Ambassador Challenge 2

Football clubs usually launch 2 or 3 football shirts every year. And we supporters always await the launch with great expectations. Some first impressions could be very high or sometimes we dont like what we see at first. At the end this is our club’s shirts and we would get used to it with the start of the league. One shirt (Home shirt) will be for sure with usual colours and Away shirt with some changing colours. You dont have so much option about the colour selection. With the big price tag of the shirts, club’s other merchandises could come in front, with T-Shirts, Tops, Jackets, Coats, etc. Great alternatives to club shirts heavy price tag, you can also have various options of design, colour and price for t-shirt, jackets and coats. I preferably wear football shirts at match days only. But other days, I show my support for example with wearing a polo,a small red devil embroidered at the chest (as simple as it can be), or if the weather is cold, just put on my Man United jacket. You dont have to go to work with a big sponsored shirt, the most beneficial design of leisure wear is that they have no big sponsors printed to ruin the design. You dont have to walk like a big commercial billboard. I have the flexibility of club wear merchandises that football shirts couldnt offer. You have only two options for football shirts every year, home and away. If you dont like the design, you can choose whatever you want from the leasurewear selection to support your team. Isnt it the reason, SUPPORT YOUR TEAM?

The Men’s Manchester United Away Jersey 2011-2012: A Female Perspective

By MM Sports Joker ambassador Katie Scharra

While much of what I have to say about this men’s jersey is similar to my review of the women’s jersey, it is always nice to give the female take on how the men’s version of a jersey fits.  I will start with the style of the jersey, the royal blue and black stripes I find to be very appealing and quite different then most jerseys.

Manchester United away jersey 11-12 mens

As I have said the style of the Manchester United Away kit this year is my favorite.  While wearing a men’s jersey is usually a choice of comfort, I found this particular jersey to have many of the same problems of it female’s counterpart in terms of fit.  I found that the nike jersey for this type of style runs very slim in the hips and across the shoulders.  This prompts me to say if you are a female looking for a comfortable jersey to watch the game in- go for a size larger then you normally would.  Although I have my qualms with the style of the fit, I think that ordering a size would make it a comfortable game day shirt with that classic boyfriend fit.  The length and slim fit also makes the jersey go really well with a pair of black leggings or shorts.  The wide stripes as well are broken up with solid royal blue side panels making for a very slimming look, similar to the women’s version.  As always, the Nike Dri- fit technology helps give the fabric of the jersey both extremely comfortable feel and functional use.  I do think that the men’s fit will be a good candidate for the average kick about unlike the female style.  I generally like wearing men’s jerseys for their wider fit and added comfort, but this year’s Manchester United Away Men’s Jersey seems to be more a fashion piece then a comfort piece.

Review: 2010-2011 FC Barcelona Home Jersey

By Gerard Banez

Why does one buy last year’s model of your favorite team’s game jersey? In this review, I will share some general thoughts on this topic, as well as more specific comments on the 2010-2011 FC Barcelona home jersey.

FC Barcelona home jersey 2010-11

The Cost

Sometimes, but not always, last year’s jersey doesn’t cost as much as the current model. When marked down, the older jersey represents a better value. Jerseys usually don’t change much from year to year, and having the most recent version, especially if a lot more expensive, isn’t really necessary.

 The Look

Another reason to buy last year’s jersey is the look. From the first time I saw it, I liked the 2010-2011 FCB home jersey. I have always liked the primary colors, and this jersey features yellow much more than past versions of the FCB jersey. The yellow ribbed collar and sleeves stand out and complement the traditional bold red and blue striping well. Another reason I liked this jersey is that I always admired the fact that FCB did not feature a shirt sponsor and, for several years, actually paid UNICEF to feature their logo. The UNICEF logo is prominently featured front and center on this jersey, which was the last sponsorless jersey before FCB negotiated its current Qatar Foundation deal. Mes que un club (more than a club) is on the left shirt sleeve, and tots units fem forca (all together we are strong) is on the inside of the jersey behind the FCB badge.

The Team

A third reason to buy an older jersey is to recognize and honor the team that wore the shirt. The 2010-2011 version of FCB is arguably the best ever Barcelona side (in my opinion, better than the 2008-2009 treble-winning group). Some have even argued that it may have been the best club side of all time. In comparison to the 2008-2009 group, the first under Guardiola’s leadership, the 2010-2011 side played an even better form of the Tiki Taka style that their coach encouraged. This side featured the incomparable Lionel Messi as well as the other two 2010 Ballon D’Or finalists, Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta (all graduates of the famed La Masia, FCB’s youth academy). Multiple members of the 2010 World Cup championship team from Spain played their club soccer at FCB.

Bottom Line

In sum, the 2010-2011 FCB home jersey is a very good looking shirt, and the team that wore the shirt was one of the best ever. If you like attractive, colorful soccer jerseys and want to recognize one of the winningest sides ever, get one of these before they are no longer available. This shirt is and will be a classic.

Final Words

If you read my review of the 2011-2012 FCB away jersey, it is useful to note that the 2011-2012 jersey was a replica version whereas the 2010-2011 FCB home jersey that I review here is an authentic version. Comparing the two side-by-side, there is very little that distinguishes them. One difference I noticed was that the authentic was shipped in a cardboard box, while the replica came in a plastic bag. The other difference is that the authentic has a vented seam along the sides of the jersey. Otherwise, the fabric, feel, details & colors appear to be the same. The many similarities and few differences suggest that purchasing a replica jersey may provide better value than buying the authentic version.

Review: Tottenham home jersey 11-12

Review: Puma Tottenham Home Jersey 11/12

By Zach Jepson

The new Tottenham home jersey by Puma looks very plain upon first sight.  The shirt is solid lilywhite throughout with only a few navy details.  Three embroidered Puma cats-one on each sleeve, and one over the left chest and the embroidered team crest over the heart.  There is also the new “Aurasma” sponsor dead center in middle of the kit.  The jersey also has a white collar and the back and sides are made of a mesh that allows air to pass through easily.  That’s all the basic aspects included on the shirt, now time for my opinion…

Tottenham home jersey 11-12

The new Tottenham kit is great.  It’s plain but it’s truly a thing of beauty.  Sometimes less is more, you know?  As a Spurs fan, it is a pleasure seeing Bale, Van deer Vaart, Dawson and the rest of the lilywhite’s wearing this on the pitch each week.  The only problem is that this shirt won’t be making an appearance in the Champions League this year, but alas, you’ve got to have goals and I hope our Spurs will be back next year!

The shirt features a slight stretch and Puma has finally nailed their sizing down to how it should be.  For years Puma was unpredictable with their sizing…the 07/08 kit was wide and short, 08/09 fit true to size, 09/10 fit really short and wide, 10/11 was long and wide.  The sizing is now finally perfect.  I would say it’s similar to Adidas sizing rather than Nike but it’s true to chest size a 42/44 is a large, etc.  Personally, sizing is very important to me, if a shirt fits really short or wide, I likely won’t wear it, so why buy it?  It’s a shame that Puma finally made a great shirt…when it’s their last year being the Tottenham manufacturer.

As far as things that detract from the jersey…there’s really nothing.  The only nitpicking would be with the new “Aurasma” sponsor but that’s just because I think the logo is not as visually appealing as the Autonomy logo from last season.  Also, Autonomy dropped the ball because they couldn’t decide on what they wanted to the jersey which is why the release date was pushed back until late September.  It always seems Spurs have trouble with the sponsor and their jerseys are always released late because of that.

So with the amount of items released by a team by their kit manufacturer, how would I spend my limited dollars?  I think that the kits are the most important thing but there are several points that either make or break a purchase from me.  The sizing is important was I said earlier, but the team crest NEEDS to be embroidered.    Lately, it seems that a Nike and Adidas are deciding to not embroider all the team crests anymore and personally, that’s just being cheap.  They justify it by saying it makes the jersey lighter but I think it’s a lot cheaper to screen a logo rather than having it stitched on.  For example the new Arsenal and Real Madrid shirts feature screened logos similar to the sponsors…it looks cheap and I think it makes it look like a knock off shirt from eBay.  Luckily Puma hasn’t done that with any of their kits yet.  I think that when companies are making kits, t-shirts, pants, training gear, jackets, fleeces and other items…for me kits come first, and training gear second.  I rarely purchase other items because there are just too many.  It’s nice having variety but when each item is $50-75; you have to pick and choose.

Overall, I’d say the new Tottenham kit is nearly flawless.  If you’re a fan, it’s a definite buy, especially with not knowing how Under Armour will handle their range next year.  You also can’t go wrong getting it customized with your favorite player from MMSports because they are one of only a handful of shops to offer authentic Lextra player names and numbers as well as authentic on field size badges.  Any questions ask, but I think it’s a must buy.
